1999-2000 EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

FALL MEETING:
The New Greek Galleries at the Metropolitan Museum

On Friday, October 15, Dr. Elizabeth J. Milleker, Associate Curator of the Greek and Roman Department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will lead gallery tours of the museum's new Greek galleries. Dr. Milleker has studied at the Ecole du Louvre and at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. She joined the staff of the Metropolitan Museum in 1986. Tours will begin promptly at 3:00 and 4:00 pm; space is limited to thirty people for each tour. Museum admission and tours are free to Club members, who will have priority in registration.

WINTER CONFERENCE:
Horace 2000

The Club's winter conference will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2000, from 9:30 am - 3:00 PM; this conference day has been organized by David Sider and is co-sponsored by the Classics Department of Fordham University. The conference will be held at Fordham University Lincoln Center, 155 West 60th Street, Room 108. The conference includes lunch at a cost of $15 for members, $20 for non-members; there is also an option of $20 including a new membership in the Club (printable registration form). SPRING MEETING:
Modern Adaptations and Performances of Classical Drama

On Saturday, May 6, at 4:00 pm, Helene Foley, Barnard College and Columbia University, will address the topic of modern performance of ancient plays. The meeting, which will include announcement of contest winners and scholarship recipients, will be held in the Sulzberger Parlor on the third floor of Barnard Hall (enter through the main gate of Barnard College from Broadway; see campus map).
