The NY Classical Club is a registered non-profit charity founded over 100 years ago to promote the study of classical antiquity in the NY area by sponsoring lectures, scholarships, and numerous contests on both the high school and college level.

Our Mission

In 1997, the Club became a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit corporation whose purposes, according to the by-laws, are the following:

  • to promote the development and maintain the well-being of classical studies;
  • to provide opportunities for exchange of ideas and free discussion among lovers of classical learning;
  • to provide learning opportunities both to members and to the general public;
  • to improve teaching on the elementary, secondary, post-secondary and graduate levels in the classical fields;
  • to establish and administer scholarships, fellowships and prizes in the classical disciplines.
