Includes an overview of the history of botany from Theophrastus to Linnaeus, Latin readings from Cicero, Vergil, and Pliny, as well as discussion with contemporary botanists and a visit to the NYBG's rare book room. Classical Club announces THE PRESIDENT’S GRANT 2008-2009 The
President’s Grant is a new award program for those interested in
promoting Latin, Greek, and classical Mediterranean civilizations in
general. Awards are available for students, teachers, and
administrators at all academic levels. We also invite
applications from other members who, although they may not teach, are
otherwise involved in the promotion of Greek and Roman Classics in some
